Plug-in connectors for applications up to 40 GHz are known as SMP Connectors. These connectors are simple to connect and unhook since they can be pressed together to form a connection and pulled apart to open it. They do not require the use of screws, as do most other connectors. SMP connectors come with three distinct detent systems: full bore, restricted bore, and smooth bore, each with varying engagement/disengagement pressures. Push-on and snap-on mating techniques are likewise available.
These connectors can be used in a board-to-board system with a floating bullet, which acts as a connection between mated pairs and compensates for radial and axial misalignment.
