The Electronic Industries Association (EIA), now known as the Electronic Commerce Industry Association, was an American standards and trade organization ( Electronic component Industry association). For antenna, filter, combiner, etc., EIA connector is primarily utilized in high power radio frequency transmission in the broadcast business.
The connector is abbreviated EIA, and the specification RS-225 for rigid coaxial transmission line 50 ohms was issued in 1959, followed by RS-259 for rigid coaxial transmission line 75 ohms in 1962. The international standard IEC 60339-2, ‘general purpose rigid coaxial transmission cables and their related flange connectors, was published by the IEC in 1996. Although EIA flange connectors were designed to be used only with rigid air lines, they are now available in a variety of extra types and variants that are appropriate for use with semi-flexible cables with convoluted outer conductors.

The nominal outside diameter of the rigid coaxial transmission line is used to determine the type name and size. The EIA consists of a flange and a body. The flange can be fixed or swivel, with the latter being more common. The flange is frequently made of brass with nickel or tri-metal plating, the body is also made of brass with nickel or tri-metal plating, and the female contact is also made of brass with silver coating for improved electric performance. PTFE is used as the insulator. DC to 3.8GHz is the typical frequency range.
The EIA connector has no gender; all EIA connectors are female contact.
A coupling element will connect two EIA connectors (bullet). According to EIA connectors, there are also numerous types of coupling elements. For example, 7/8" EIA connectors must intermate with 7/8" coupling elements. The EIA connectors are fastened to the flange with bolts.
