SMB PLUG CRIMP FOR RG179 CALBE

SMB (SubMiniature version B) coaxial RF connectors were invented in the 1960s. SMB connectors are less than half the size of SMA connectors. SMB has a snap-on connection and comes in 50 ohms or 75 ohms impedance. The SMB Connector from LenoRF provides outstanding electrical performance from DC to 4 GHz. The SMB plug has a female socket, whereas the SMB jack has a male center pin.

Overview

The SMB interface features a snap-on coupling mechanism and is available in 50 ohm configurations. It meets the requirements of MIL-C-39012 and complies with MIL-STD-348 standards. SMB connectors provide broadband performance with low reflection from DC to 4 GHz, with extended capability up to 10 GHz for application MRI, CT, and ultrasound imaging devices, railway communications and signaling systems . They are offered in various materials, including die-cast options in non-critical areas, delivering a reliable yet cost-effective solution.

Features

  • Available with various plating options, including nickel, gold, and tin-lead.

  • Snap-on mating enables quick connection and disconnection, reducing installation time.

  • SMB PCB slide-on plugs and jacks allow easy board-to-board mounting with minimal insertion force.

FAQ

Sample Delivery Time

Regular models require 15 days, while some complex connectors require 25 days.

Sample Fee

Most RF connectors are CNC-machined parts and do not require mold-making.

However, each part needs to be fine-tuned on the CNC machine. Typically, a single sample costs $200.

This fee will be refunded after a 5K bulk order.

Guarantee

Brass RF connectors come with a one-year warranty.

Stainless steel connectors come with a three-year warranty.

The lifespan also depends on the contact material  beryllium contacts offer better durability.

ROHS & REACH Compliance

Our products fully comply with ROHS & REACH regulations.

Does LENORF Offer Military-Grade Products?

Yes. We are honored to provide military-grade products with exceptionally stable quality.

MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity)

Regular connectors: 500 PCS

Adapters: 100 PCS

Military connectors: 100 PCS

Materials

Common materials include:

Body: Brass, stainless steel

Insulator: PTFE, PEEK

Contacts: Brass, phosphor bronze, beryllium copper

Other: Aluminum, titanium alloy

Can RF connectors be reused?

Yes, but performance degrades with wear. Precision connectors (used in test equipment) should be handled carefully—damage to threads or pins increases VSWR and insertion loss.

What’s the difference between threaded, bayonet, and push-on RF connectors?

Threaded (SMA, N, TNC): Secure, vibration-resistant. Bayonet (BNC): Quick connect/disconnect. Push-on (MCX, SMP): Ultra-fast, compact, used in high-density modules.

Are RF connectors interchangeable between brands?

Yes, if they follow the same standard (e.g., SMA-to-SMA). However, tolerances, plating, and dielectric quality vary — mixing low-quality and precision connectors can damage equipment.

How do environmental conditions affect RF connectors?

Temperature extremes can cause expansion/shrinkage and change performance. Humidity and salt spray may cause corrosion (use stainless steel or weatherproof designs). Vibration may loosen bayonet types — use threaded connectors in harsh environments.
