SMA and SMB connectors are both types of RF (radio frequency) connectors, but they are not compatible with each other and have different characteristics and interface.

SMA Connector:

SMA (SubMiniature version A) connectors have a 1/4-inch diameter, 36-thread-per-inch threaded interface screw-type coupling mechanism and a 50 Ohm impedance. They are typically used in radio frequency and microwave applications, and are known for their durability and reliability. SMA connectors are built in accordance with MIL-STD-348 interface which latest version is MIL-STD-348B and IEC 60169-15. Besides conforming to the interface,SMA connectors operate up to 18 GHz, but in order to respond to the growth of the communication system, there is an extended version that operates up to 26.5 GHz for higher frequency applications.

Features:

Thread coupling mechanism

Crimping or soldering contact

50 impedance up to 18GHz

Light weight,compact design

Anti-vibration performance

Specification:

Impedance (Ω) 50
Frequency GHz 18 GHz (Extend to 26.5 GHz)
Shielding Effectiveness ≥ -90 dB
Dielectric withstanding Voltage 1000 VRMS
Mating Cycles 500
Mating Torque 7 - 10 in - lbs
Inter-mate ability 2.92mm, 3.5mm
Temperature Rating -65°C to +165°C
Corrosion (salt spray) MIL-STD-202, Method 101, Condition B
Vibration MIL-STD-202, Method 204, Condition D
Shock MIL-STD-202, Method 213, Condition I
Thermal Shock MIL-STD-202, Method 107, Condition B
Moisture Resistance MIL-STD-202, Method 106, Less Step 7B
Barometric Pressure (Altitude) MIL-STD-202, Method 105, Condition C, 70k Ft.

smb connectors

SMB Connector:

SMB (SubMiniature version B) connectors have a push-on (snap-on) type of coupling mechanism and a 50 Ohm impedance. They are also used in RF applications, but are not as durable or reliable as SMA connectors. They are less expensive than SMA connectors and are often used in lower power applications. They feature a snap-on coupling and are available in  50 Ω  impedance. They offer excellent electrical performance from DC to 4 GHz,extended performance up to 10GHz. SMB connectors conform to the requirements of MIL-C-39012, and the interface is in compliance with MIL-STD-348 and IEC60169-10.  The popular automobile connector - FAKRA used SMB connector as a core with plastic housing.

Features:

Snap-on coupling system on save installation time

Excellent electrical performance from DC to 4 GHz.

Specification:

Impedance (Ω) 50
Frequency GHz 4 GHz (select models to 10 GHz)
Shielding Effectiveness ≥ -90 dB
Dielectric withstanding Voltage 1000 VRMS
Mating Cycles 500
Engagement/Disengagement force 14 lbs (62 N) Max / 2 lbs (8.9 N) Max
Inter-mate ability SMB
Temperature Rating -65°C to +165°C
Corrosion (salt spray) MIL-STD-202, Method 101, Condition B
Vibration MIL-STD-202, Method 204, Condition D
Shock MIL-STD-202, Method 213, Condition I
Thermal Shock MIL-STD-202, Method 107, Condition B
Moisture Resistance MIL-STD-202, Method 106, Less Step 7B
Barometric Pressure (Altitude) MIL-STD-202, Method 105, Condition C, 70k Ft.

Summary:

SMA connectors have a screw-on mechanism and are known for durability, the working frequency can up to 26.5GHz, while SMB connectors have a push-on mechanism and plug and pull easily, the working frequency is up to 4 GHz with extended to 10GHz.
